We had yet another wonderful Relief Society Meeting on Sunday.  Still feeling the spirit from our annual General Relief Society Meeting broadcast from Salt Lake, we were truly fed this morning.  We are grateful that we have the opportunity to be guided and uplifted by members of our General Presidency and our Prophet.  We were given such wonderful messages and motivation to improve our daily lives, if we will but heed their council.  For those of you who did not attend the broadcast or missed the re-broadcast, please go to lds.org and watch the proceedings.  You'll be glad you did!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

A sign-up sheet was passed around for those sisters desiring to play any kind of sport. If you missed the sign-up, please contact Sister Ilene Holt at 878-2440.

There will be no meetings at the ward next Sunday as it is General Conference.  Please take advantage of the opportunity to listen on Saturday and Sunday, sessions at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Fast Sunday will be the 10th of October.

Penny's-By-The-Inch envelopes are being distributed.  Please take one and feel free to contribute to this worthy cause.  Return your envelope to Sister Randi Platt in the Primary.

GOOD NEWS MINUTES:

Sister Norma wanted to thank Steve, Deb and all their family for helping with her yard work.  She was so grateful and appreciative of their wonderful service.

Sister Mary Sanger announced that they had found a new place for the winter.  They are staying on the Colby and Rusty Hunt property in New Castle.  Glad to have you in town Mary.

Sister Dickinson had her daughter and granddaughter visiting this week.  Isn't it always such fun to have our family around us?

Elaine Schriver announced that her nephew's baby, Cash, is recovering nicely (90%) from his bout with cancer.

Rebecca Ayala had her sister Emily visiting this week also.  It's always good to see our old ward members return!

LESSON:

Sister Deb Christensen so wonderfully taught us the principle of patience.  Her lesson was taken from the conference talk by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (May Ensign, pg. 56).

"The lessons we learn from patience will cultivate our character, lift our lives, and heighten our happiness."

"Patience is far more than simply waiting for something to happen--patience (requires) actively working toward worthwhile goals and not getting discouraged when results (don't) appear instantly or without effort."  We need to remember that things happen in "the Lord's way and time."

"Patience is a godly attribute that can heal souls, unlock treasures of knowledge and understanding, and transform ordinary men and women into saints and angels.  Patience is truly a fruit of the spirit."

Please take a moment to read this wonderful message from President Uchtdorf if you have not read it.  If you have, it's worth a repeat.

Great Relief Society Meeting!

Whether you attended our meeting on Sunday or our meeting during the week, you were blessed by having been there.

Sister Marilyn Tullis expressed gratitude to those who so willingly put together our meeting last week:  Elaine, Judy, and TiAnna.  She remarked with a twinkle and a smile "Oh, you should feel so guilty!" to those who did not attend.

Announcements:

GENERAL RELIEF SOCIETY MEETING will be held this coming Saturday, September 25 at the Stake Center in Enterprise.  A dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. prior to the Broadcast at 6:00 p.m.  This is a special event held once a year prior to our October General Conference for all sisters 18 years old and older.  It is our time to receive the very most pertinent instruction for us as women in the church.  Please invite your family, neighbors and friends to join with us.

ALLIANCE FOR UNITY FOOD DRIVE, September 25, 2010.  The First Presidency has "invited us to join with others in donating non-perishable food items to the Utah Food Bank or local hunger relief agencies . . . high protein items such as canned meats or fish, chili or peanut butter are especially appreciated."  Please fill any box or bag and return it to the ward next Sunday, or it may be taken to the Beryl Junction Pantry at the Community Building.

Good News Minutes:

Sister Lynda Laub told us that she would be leaving for a trip to West Virginia with her mother. Enjoy, Sister Lynda!

Sister Terry Petersen had her daughter, Alicia, and six-month old granddaughter visiting with her.  What a proud Grandma!

Sister Eva Martin was privileged to attend the temple on Saturday and take our her endowments.  Congratulations!

Sister Deb Fitzwater had her mother, daughter-in-law, Portia and baby Knox visiting as well.  What fun!

Our lesson was given by Sister Bea Gubler.  She taught us of the great and marvelous blessings that come to us through the Restoration. Authority from God was once again restored to the earth, bringing the organization of the Church to us.  Many important truths have been restored bringing light to our lives.  She shared her touching testimony with us as she closed her lesson.  We were indeed filled with the light she radiated.

For those of you who missed our meeting last week, we're sorry you didn't make it.  We had a wonderful experience!  The theme was "Miracle From Heaven" taken from a video presentation by the same name.  Brother John Carson shared his conversion story with us, and we felt the spirit as he told of his experiences since moving to our ward.  He certainly shared a wonderful testimony with us, and we were touched by his experiences.

At the conclusion of Brother Carson's remarks, we viewed another video entitled, "Never a Better Hero".  (Fantastic Music with touching scenes from the Savior's life).  Sister Deb Christensen then shared her emotional testimony of her experience reading 'Jesus The Christ' and the impact that it has had on her life.  We could all take a page from her book as she has set a wonderful example for all of us.

At the conclusion of the evening, the video presentation of "His Hands" was viewed.  It brought many feelings and emotions to the surface and everyone felt they had been deeply rewarded for having attended such a special evening.

The fruit and veggie bar was a hit.  It all tasted so good and was a refreshing treat enjoyed by everyone.  We were encouraged to take paper hands that had been placed on the tables as a reminder that we are indeed 'His Hands' and to use them in service to our fellowmen.

Thanks to these three great ladies, we had a wonderful meeting!
TiAnna, Elaine, and Judy

Don't Miss Our Tuesday Relief Society Meeting!

Sunday was another wonderful morning within the walls of the Relief Society Room.  The sisterhood that resides there is amazing!  For those of you who are serving in other auxiliaries, we miss you, but know that your service is so needed where you are.  We hope that you will be able to join us for those meetings and activities that do not conflict with your present callings.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
We've been looking forward to our next get-together.  Coming TONIGHT is our Relief Society Meeting at 7:00 p.m.  Our instructions are to come prepared to be spiritually fed.  There will be a light refreshment and the dress is nice casual.

Sister Lynn Lindsey announced that she was having a taster's table after meetings on Sunday.  We hope you went passed the kitchen on your way out to test the 'new' product that she's found.  It tasted surprisingly good!  It comes from Australia and is, believe it or not . . . canned cheese.  The order blank is on the front sign-up table.

It's only ten days away!  We've been waiting all year for another chance to be taught by our Relief Society leaders and are so grateful that we have that opportunity once a year.  Sister Beck, her counselors, and a member of the First Presidency will instruct us on Saturday, September 25.  The Stake Relief Society is providing a light dinner at 5:00 p.m. prior to the broadcast at 6:00p.m.  We hope everyone will take the opportunity to attend this special evening with us.

There will be a memorial service for Tom Chittendon (sp) on the afternoon of the 25th on the "pond" property in Iron Town.  For further information, please contact Brother Wayne Murray or Sister Joan Gibbons.

GOOD NEW MINUTES:
Sister Cindy Cluett was excited to announce that she was able to test out of one of her classes.  That means she was 'smart' enough to pass the test, thereby, does not have to take the class.  GO, CINDY!

Sister Sanger announced that they have found some property on 2400 North that was a good place for them to put their trailer.  That means she will be staying in our ward.  What great news!

Lynn and Marilyn are both excited to have Hunter baptized next week.  Congratulations to Hunter and the GRANDMA'S!

Our little Sister Missionary who has been staying with the Gardner Family received news that she is now in good enough health to be able to return to her full-time mission in California.  We're so grateful for her good news, but will miss her in our presence.

Sister Marilyn was so thankful and excited for the opportunity to talk to her son who is stationed in Iraq.  It was a great moment for her!

SUNDAY LESSON:
Since there has been many changes in callings in our ward, Sister Carma Beacham was taken to the Primary, leaving a teaching vacancy.  We were pleased to be taught by Sister Karen Humphries on Sunday.  She certainly gave 'new light' to an old subject.  It was a great lesson, taught by the spirit, and helped us to realize that we do indeed have the same organization that existed in the primitive church.  She addressed six things that help to identify the Church of Jesus Christ:  Revelation, Authority From God, The Church Organization, The First Principles and Ordinances, Ordinances Performed for the Dead, and Spiritual Gifts.

She discussed the Apostasy and helped us to realize that we cannot comprehend what it would have been like to live without the Gospel in our lives.  The Dark Ages were a reality to many, and we are so blessed to be born at a time when the Light of the Gospel is in it's fullness upon the earth.  Let us soak in all that 'light' we can.

Stay tuned for a report and photos of our meeting tonight!

Another Catch Up!

So-o-o-o sorry about last week's failure to post.  It was one of those weeks when there was more to get done than there was week to do it in.  Here's a little catch-up:  We want to express our sympathy to Sister Bea Gubler and her family as they mourn the loss of her husband, Ted.  May we take a moment to make a visit to help ease some of the loneliness.  Sister Kiyla Hulet gave birth to a 7 pound 14 ounce baby boy.  They are going to name him Colby Coy.

Congratulations are in order for the new Young Women's Presidency:  Sister Cheri Hulet was sustained as President, with Jessica Christensen and Cindy Steele as her counselors and Leah Jane Laub as Secretary.  A big THANK YOU to Sister Christy Gardner and those who served with her in the Young Women.  What a great job they all did.  We will be so glad to welcome you back among us in the Relief Society! This past Sunday assistants were sustained:  Laura Hughes, Beehive Assistant; Shari Reber, Mia Maid Assistant; and Stacy Gardner as Laurel Assistant.  Other sustainings consisted of:  Jim Tullis as a Sunday School Teacher; Jeremy Gardner as a Sunday School Teacher; Kelly Gardner as the Ward Chorister; and Lanita Tullis as the Relief Society Chorister.

Our meeting on Sunday was a wonderful experience for all who where there.  The Young Women were visiting our opening exercises along with their Stake Leaders.  Some GOOD NEWS Minutes were shared by several.  Here's a short summary:
~Sister Terry Peterson made comment to the young women on how lovely they are and how great it is to see them in proper dress.  She had visited LA Temple for a family wedding and felt that there were many dressed inappropriately.  She said it was so good to come home and find our young women looking their finest.  Way to go girls!
~Sister Lynn Lindsey reported on the status of her husband.  He is home and doing well.  He has no pain, but still finds himself tiring very easily.
~Sister Lynda Laub reported that her daughter Shara now had a job, actually two.  She is training at the D.I. and also working at Wendy's.
~Sister Pam Peterson had her daughter Chelsea here so she could travel to New Mexico with them to visit Kyle, Dana and the kids.
~Sister Bea Gubler expressed her love and appreciation to all the sisters who helped in any way this past week.
~Sister Cindy Cluett was excused as she traveled to SLC to say farewell to her adopted son who was leaving for Afghanistan.

Our wonderful President, Sister Marilyn Tullis, instructed us on strengthening our homes and families.  Strengthening our family is one calling we are never released from.  In our routine lives, we often take our families for granted.  Each family member should know that they are loved for their individual worth and that home is a safe harbor.  President Hinckley was quoted, "The strength of any nation is rooted within the walls of our homes."  She had prepared a laminated "Family Proclamation to the World" (scripture-size) for each of the sisters in the ward.  If you were not there and your visiting teachers have not brought you a copy, please contact Sister Tullis.

COMING EVENTS THIS WEEK:  We have been invited to the 1st Ward in Enterprise (Stake Center) for a Relief Society Meeting on Wednesday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m.  They will be testing pressure canner lids, plus a class on bottling oranges and grapefruits, also the best way to freeze fruits and vegetables.

Keep your eye open for our next Relief Society Meeting which will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m.   Sister Elaine Schriver will announce details very soon so mark it on your calendar.
