Welcome Young Women!

Our Relief Society on Sunday was strengthened by all of our Young Women and their leaders.  Thanks to Britney Bosshardt who conducted.  She did a marvelous job and has such a happy personality.  The prayer and theme were given by the Young Women as well.  The announcements included:  Personal Progress on Wednesday night at 7:00, please bring your Personal Progress Book and Journal; Deer Camp Fireside is next week with special guest Dan Webster, a Viet Nam veteran; Temple Baptisms are scheduled for October 30, the girls will need to have their recommend interviews with the Bishop.  Birthdays for the Young Women included:  Maddie Laub and Sherri Platt.  Sherri was welcomed into the Young Woman as their newest Beehive.   Congratulations, girls!   The Young Women were then excused to attend their classes.

RELIEF SOCIETY ANNOUNCEMENTS:

THANKS to all who helped with meals and luncheon food for the Dupass Family.  They are appreciative of the support they have received.  Let us continue to show our love and extend our hand in their support as the days go by.  Please note that an account has been opened at Zions Bank under 'Jessica Dupass' for anyone wishing to contribute to help them with expenses incurred.

The SPECIAL SISTERS LUNCHEON will be held on the 19th at the 4th-5th Ward Building.  Beginning time is set for 11:30 a.m. and you are asked to bring a bag with three items that tells something about yourself.  Sound like great fun!  The 1st Ward is hosting this event for anyone interested in attending.

The FOURTH SUNDAY LESSON will be on Page 87 of the May Ensign, President Monson's talk entitled "He Is Risen".

GOOD NEWS MINUTES:

Sister Lavona Dickinson had friends visiting this week:  Linda and Sarah Wynstock.

Sister Leann Riquelme has found her roaster pan that has been missing since she furnished food for a funeral luncheon.  Sisters, please check in the kitchen for any dishes that could be yours.  Also, check for any you may have at home that may not be yours and return them.

LESSON:

Sister Mary Sanger gave a wonderful lesson entitled 'Faith in Jesus Christ'.  She explained that faith is like a tiny seed that grows with each of the things we do: prayer, study scriptures, listen to conference talks, live obediently etc.  Learning to listen to the promptings of the Spirit helps us to increase our faith.  "If we don't know the Holy Ghost, we won't know the Savior".  She described the cycle that we go through to increase our faith:

                                         Faith
                                         Obedience
                                         Tribulation
Knowledge of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ

As we go through this cycle and are faithful we can rise to the next level of living the gospel.  It helps to form our character.

"Through the gift of faith, miracles are wrought, angles appear, other gifts are given, prayers are answered, and men become the sons of God."  (See Moroni 7:25-26, 36-37)

Thank you, Mary, for a wonderful lesson.  You were a GREAT substitute for Sister Christy.

Graveside Services

Graveside services for our sweet little Dupass baby will be held on Saturday, October 9, at the Cedar City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, a donation at Zions Bank would be much appreciated to help with funeral costs.  May the Lord's comforting spirit abide with this special family in our ward.

Sympathy to the Dupass Family

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Josh and Jessica Dupass as they lost their baby boy this week.  We send our love to them and encourage each sister to reach out to this wonderful family and share with them the love from our ward.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday in Cedar City.  When we receive additional information as to time, we will post it.
