Another Catch Up!

So-o-o-o sorry about last week's failure to post.  It was one of those weeks when there was more to get done than there was week to do it in.  Here's a little catch-up:  We want to express our sympathy to Sister Bea Gubler and her family as they mourn the loss of her husband, Ted.  May we take a moment to make a visit to help ease some of the loneliness.  Sister Kiyla Hulet gave birth to a 7 pound 14 ounce baby boy.  They are going to name him Colby Coy.

Congratulations are in order for the new Young Women's Presidency:  Sister Cheri Hulet was sustained as President, with Jessica Christensen and Cindy Steele as her counselors and Leah Jane Laub as Secretary.  A big THANK YOU to Sister Christy Gardner and those who served with her in the Young Women.  What a great job they all did.  We will be so glad to welcome you back among us in the Relief Society! This past Sunday assistants were sustained:  Laura Hughes, Beehive Assistant; Shari Reber, Mia Maid Assistant; and Stacy Gardner as Laurel Assistant.  Other sustainings consisted of:  Jim Tullis as a Sunday School Teacher; Jeremy Gardner as a Sunday School Teacher; Kelly Gardner as the Ward Chorister; and Lanita Tullis as the Relief Society Chorister.

Our meeting on Sunday was a wonderful experience for all who where there.  The Young Women were visiting our opening exercises along with their Stake Leaders.  Some GOOD NEWS Minutes were shared by several.  Here's a short summary:
~Sister Terry Peterson made comment to the young women on how lovely they are and how great it is to see them in proper dress.  She had visited LA Temple for a family wedding and felt that there were many dressed inappropriately.  She said it was so good to come home and find our young women looking their finest.  Way to go girls!
~Sister Lynn Lindsey reported on the status of her husband.  He is home and doing well.  He has no pain, but still finds himself tiring very easily.
~Sister Lynda Laub reported that her daughter Shara now had a job, actually two.  She is training at the D.I. and also working at Wendy's.
~Sister Pam Peterson had her daughter Chelsea here so she could travel to New Mexico with them to visit Kyle, Dana and the kids.
~Sister Bea Gubler expressed her love and appreciation to all the sisters who helped in any way this past week.
~Sister Cindy Cluett was excused as she traveled to SLC to say farewell to her adopted son who was leaving for Afghanistan.

Our wonderful President, Sister Marilyn Tullis, instructed us on strengthening our homes and families.  Strengthening our family is one calling we are never released from.  In our routine lives, we often take our families for granted.  Each family member should know that they are loved for their individual worth and that home is a safe harbor.  President Hinckley was quoted, "The strength of any nation is rooted within the walls of our homes."  She had prepared a laminated "Family Proclamation to the World" (scripture-size) for each of the sisters in the ward.  If you were not there and your visiting teachers have not brought you a copy, please contact Sister Tullis.

COMING EVENTS THIS WEEK:  We have been invited to the 1st Ward in Enterprise (Stake Center) for a Relief Society Meeting on Wednesday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m.  They will be testing pressure canner lids, plus a class on bottling oranges and grapefruits, also the best way to freeze fruits and vegetables.

Keep your eye open for our next Relief Society Meeting which will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m.   Sister Elaine Schriver will announce details very soon so mark it on your calendar.
